The Western Society of Weed Science's (WSWS) Rita Beard Foundation Scholarship supports students and early career invasive species managers with educational opportunities by providing registration and travel to professional meetings, including SRM, WAPMS, WSWS, and NAISMA. The University of California-Davis will host the 2018 Aquatic Weed School on September 5-6, 2018 at the Bowley Plant Science Teaching Center. The Aquatic Weed School is an intensive two-day course focusing on issues associated with developing weed management strategies in a variety of aquatic ecosystems. The course provides a rare opportunity for professionals to efficiently update their understanding of aquatic weeds and interact with experts in this field. The Aquatic Weed School is designed for those involved in consulting, research, and management of aquatic weed systems throughout the western United States. The topics are presented in lecture, laboratory, and demonstration formats. Each attendee will receive a course notebook with lecture summaries and related materials. CEUs for California pesticide certification will be available.
A joint meet of the Western Aquatic Plant Management Society and the national Aquatic Plant Management Society will be held in sunny San Diego, California in 2019.
